"The entire community has been shaken by the shooting at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church and by the tragedy that has come to our community.

"This terrible, senseless act reminds us all of how fragile life can be and of how important it is for all of us to care for and support one another.

"In the coming days, the shock will fade, but the grief and loss we all feel will continue. I’ve asked our grief counselors to make their services available for any member of the UT community who needs assistance in dealing with this senseless and terrible tragedy.

"The UT Counseling Center is located at 900 Volunteer Blvd. and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The center staff can be reached at (865) 974-2196.

"In the meantime, please take care of one another, and keep the families affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers."
