John Bardill headshotJohn Bardill of Facilities Services began working at UT 42 years ago this month. He was hired on June 30, 1966 to clean the then-Alumni Memorial Gym. During his years at UT, John has cleaned almost every building on campus but will end his career where it began in the Alumni Memorial Auditorium on Monday, June 30.

John has seen the University through many changes. For instance, he began working at UT when Neyland Stadium was the shape of a horseshoe. He also has experienced 8 UT Presidents, and even dined with one — Dr. Edward Boling (1970-88) — as the result of a chance meeting while he was cleaning the Health Physical Education and Recreation building.

The university is thankful for John’s many years of service and dedication. In an effort to recognize John and others like him, UT Knoxville will soon launch a Web site that identifies recent retirees and those celebrating service milestones. Please stay tuned for the unveiling of this Web site.
