KNOXVILLE — The Parents Association at the University of Tennessee invites families to go back to college and spend the weekend with their students on campus.

The Spring Family Weekend is April 4-5. Registration ends Wednesday, March 12. The event is open for members of the Parents Association only, but joining the association is as easy as going online.

Families will have the chance to attend some sporting events, including softball or baseball, and take tours of the new basketball practice facility and Hodges Library.

A highlight of the weekend is a question-and-answer session about student safety at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 5. Dean of Students Maxine Thompson-Davis, UT Police Capt. Keith Lambert and Lt. Emily Simerly will talk about safety on and off campus.

Check in for the event starts at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 4, at the Visitors Center, 2704 Kingston Pike. There, families can pick up a packet of materials including tickets, a schedule, directions, giveaways and more.

The Parents Association was founded in 2002 and is open to parents or guardians of UT students. Dues are $40 per year per family, but the rate is $20 now through March 31.

For more information about the family weekend and membership, go to http://parents.utk.edu/, call (865) 974-4546 or e-mail parents@utk.edu. Registration for the weekend is available on the Web site.
