The UT Community is invited to attend the Women of Color Summit from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 11 at the University Center. "Empowering Women: Ingredients for Survival in the 21st Century" is the theme of the summit. Space is limited for the event but spots are still available. Hurry and register today!

Joy DeGruy LearyJoy DeGruy-Leary, assistant professor in the Graduate School of Social Work at Portland State University, will be the keynote speaker. The summit will feature concurrent sessions as well as panel discussions on topics including education, health and wellness, financial planning and professional development. These are issues that affect women in general, particularly women of color.

A planning committee of UT administrators, faculty and students have joined their talents to develop this conference — the first of its kind at UT and one that hopefully will become an annual event. This type of conference fits neatly into the goals of both the Ready for the World initiative and the UT campus diversity plan.

The summit is free and open to the public. Plan now to attend this exciting event by registering at http://web.utk.edu/wocs. UT faculty and staff may receive HR 128 credit for attendance.
