Dr. Greg Baker, Associate Professor in Earth and Planetary Sciences, is the recipient of the inaugural Early Career Award presented by The Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS).The Early Career Award is made to acknowledge academic excellence and to encourage research in near-surface geophysics.

A five member committee of distinguished university faculty and national laboratory scientists selected Dr. Baker as their first choice to receive this prestigious award which will be presented at the April 2008 Symposium on the Applications of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems (SAGEEP) meeting in Philadelphia.

Dr. Baker will receive free registration to the SAGEEP conference, at which the award will be presented; a plaque; and a $1,000 cash award. He also will be a keynote presenter at the SAGEEP conference.
