KNOXVILLE – T.K. Davis, associate professor in the University of Tennessee’s College of Architecture and Design, has been elevated to the American Institute of Architects (AIA) College of Fellows, an honor awarded to AIA members who have made significant contributions to the profession.
Davis is one of only 116 AIA members to be inducted into the Fellowship program this year. The 2008 fellows will be honored at a ceremony at the 2008 AIA National Convention and Design Expo in Boston in May.
Fellowship is one of the highest honors the AIA can bestow upon a member. It recognizes the achievements of those who have made significant contributions to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession.
The purpose of the College of Fellows is to stimulate a sharing of interests among fellows, to promote the Institute, to advance the architecture profession and to be of ever-increasing service to society.
Out of a total AIA membership of nearly 83,000, there are fewer than 2,650 distinguished with the honor of fellowship.
Davis, who has taught at UT for 14 years, is the design director for the Nashville Civic Design Center, a nonprofit organization that promotes the quality of Nashville’s built environment. He is a past recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship in Architecture to Italy and the National Institute for Architectural Education Traveling Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome.
