KNOXVILLE — Randal Pinkett, a winner of Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice” reality show, is headlining this year’s Black Issues Conference at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Pinkett, an entrepreneur and author, is the keynote speaker for the event on Saturday, Feb. 9, in the University Center.
In celebration of Black History Month, UT is hosting the third annual Black Issues Conference with the theme “Money, Power and Respect — The Keys to Economic Empowerment.”
The conference is sponsored by the Office of Alumni Affairs, the Black Alumni Associates, UT’s NAACP chapter, the Office of Minority Student Affairs, the UT Alumni Association and Scripps Networks. Prior registration for the event is required.
Here is a schedule of events for the conference:
• 9 a.m. — Breakfast and a panel discussion with members from Scripps Networks Diversity Strategy Teams.
• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Workshops on many topics including wealth building through real estate, finding your gifts of success and lending a helping hand.
• Noon — Lunch.
• 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. — The Charles Lemmons keynote address featuring Randal Pinkett.
• 3 p.m. — Reception and book signing with Pinkett.
Pinkett’s book is “Campus CEO: The Student Entrepreneur’s Guide to Launching a Multi-Million-Dollar Business.” He is the founder, chairman and CEO of BCT Partners, a management, technology and policy consulting services firm based in Newark, N.J.
After winning “The Apprentice” in 2005, Pinkett oversaw renovation and information technology projects for Trump Entertainment Resorts in Atlantic City, N.J. Pinkett now serves as a boardroom adviser on “The Apprentice,” a national spokesperson for the Trump Institute and faculty member for Trump University.
