Michael KnightMichael Knight, UT associate professor of creative writing, has a new fiction book out just in time for the holidays.

"The Holiday Season" is a book of two novellas published by Grove Press and recently complimented in a New York Times book review.

The first novella, also titled "The Holiday Season," takes place during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and details the drama between a father and two adult sons. The second novella, "Love at the End of the Year," follows nine characters on one New Year’s Eve.

"There is a long tradition of fiction using holiday gatherings as a vehicle for examining relationships under stress," writes Floyd Skloot in his review published Dec. 2 in the Times. "Richard Bausch recently used Thanksgiving this way; Truman Capote, Charles Dickens, Dylan Thomas all used Christmas. Michael Knight’s ‘The Holiday Season’ joins this crowded table and, especially in its title piece, makes itself at home."
