UT physics professor Jon Levin has been appointed the new director of the Tennessee Science Olympiad State Tournament. The tournament will take place on April 5, 2008, and will bring 36 middle school and high school Science Olympiad teams to campus to compete for the right to advance to the national Olympiad in Washington, D.C., in late May.
The teams coming to Knoxville will represent the top finishers among the state’s eight regional Olympiad competitions, to be held in February and March 2008.
The Science Olympiad State Tournament Office is based in the College of Arts and Sciences, and is sponsored in partnership with the UT/ORNL Science Alliance and the colleges of Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, and Education, Health and Human Sciences.
UT Knoxville has served as the host site of the state tournament since 1994.
