Faculty, staff and students are registering quickly for UT ALERT, the university’s new emergency text messaging system. UT has contracted with e2Campus, a mass notification and text messaging firm, to make the system available for this academic year.
UT is offering numerous events over the next week to welcome freshmen to campus and help them adjust to college life. Members of the Class of 2011 begin to move into the residence halls this weekend, and Welcome Week kicks off with events Saturday. The first day of class is Aug. 22.
UT is welcoming its new freshman class — more than 4,300 strong and the latest record-setters for academic excellence. Total campus enrollment is expected to be 26,500 to 26,750, an increase of 2 to 3 percent over last year.
