KNOXVILLE — Through member contributions, the University of Tennessee Parents Association is offering scholarships for current students to provide the financial resources they need for successful academic and professional careers.

Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 are available to students who have achieved excellence in one of the following areas: academic, service or leadership. The Association can award up to 12 total scholarships annually.

The application period for these scholarships is April 1-27, concluding on the last day of classes for the 2007 spring semester. To be eligible for all scholarships, at least one of the students’ parents or guardians must be members of the Parents Association.

“The Parents Association is committed to recognizing students who contribute to making a positive difference on campus,” said Emily Parker, interim director for the Association. “We are really excited about being able to offer the leadership and service scholarships this year.”

A scholarship committee of staff and students will select recipients through a competitive selection process.
