KNOXVILLE — Potential law school applicants in East Tennessee are invited to attend a law school admissions workshop and recruitment fair on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the University of Tennessee College of Law.

“Anyone who is considering law as a career and is specifically interested in the law school admissions process should attend this event,” said Karen R. Britton, the college’s director of admissions, financial aid and career services.

The program will begin with a workshop from 1-2 p.m. (EDT) in Room 237, College of Law, on how undergraduates should prepare for law school, the law school admission process, the LSAT and financing a legal education.

From 2:30-5 p.m., admissions representatives from several law schools in the Southeast will be available to discuss their law schools and their application process. Law schools invited to send representatives and/or materials include Alabama, Charleston, Cumberland, Emory, Georgia, Georgia State, Kentucky, Memphis, Mercer, Mississippi College, Richmond, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Washington & Lee. The Recruitment Fair will be held in the College of Law Commons and Rotunda.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to apply to law school and to meet face to face with admissions decision makers from UT and other law schools in the Southeast,” Britton said.

Alex Russell, UT’s Phi Alpha Delta pre-law society president, encourages students who are thinking about law school to participate.

“I attended the Law School Recruitment Fair last year and I truly believe that any student preparing to attend law school will greatly benefit from all that this event has to offer.”

The UT College of Law is located at 1505 W. Cumberland Ave., directly across the street from the University Center. The workshop is free, and no preregistration is necessary.

This program is sponsored by UT College of Law, UT Arts and Sciences Advising Services, and the UT Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Society.
