KNOXVILLE – For any college student, this is an offer too good to refuse.

University of Tennessee students will have the opportunity to trade in an aluminum can or plastic bottle for a fresh-baked cookie Tuesday and Wednesday as part of UT’s Cookies for Cans program, sponsored by UT Recycles and Team Vols.

The program will be held between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in the Presidential Courtyard and Wednesday March 1 at the Joe Johnson and John Ward Pedestrian Mall.

Students trading in their cans and bottles will also learn more about UT’s participation in the national RecycleMania competition.

More than 90 colleges and universities are competing to collect the largest amount of recyclables, the least amount of trash, and have the highest recycling rate over a 10-week period. Schools participating represent 33 states and nearly a million students. UT currently leads the competition among Southeastern Conference schools.
