KNOXVILLE — Former Tennessee Valley Authority Chairman and University of Tennessee College of Law alumnus S. David Freeman will return to his alma mater Nov. 11 to deliver the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Lecture.

The lecture begins at 12:20 p.m. in room 132 of the UT College of Law building and is free and open to the public.

Freeman, a Chattanooga native and a 1956 graduate of the college, served on TVA’s board of directors from 1977 to 1984 and as chairman from 1978 to 1981. He is currently chairman of the California Consumer Power and Conservation Financing Authority.

Freeman received an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Georgia Tech prior to entering law school at UT.

His experience includes top positions at the New York Power Authority, Lower Colorado River Authority, and Sacramento Municipal Utility District, in addition to TVA.

Freeman is the author of the book “Energy: The New Era.” He has held several high-level government positions, including energy advisor to President Jimmy Carter.
