KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture’s 2005 Ag Day and the College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Showcase are among the events on campus before the UT Volunteers host the University of Mississippi Rebels this Saturday in Knoxville.

Kickoff for the game is 12:30 p.m. ET.

Ag Day events begin at the agriculture campus four hours prior to kickoff. Displays and exhibits will highlight the economic, academic and social impact of agricultural education and research. More information on Ag Day is available at http://agalumni.tennessee.edu/AgDay/index.htm.

The College of Arts and Sciences Pre-Game Faculty Showcase continues this week, with Joe Champelli, assistant professor in the UT Theatre Department, presenting “Flying Spiderman and Tinkerbell: Applying Theatrical Special Effects to the Movie Industry.” The presentation is at 10:30 a.m. in the ballroom of the University Center.

Standard security measures will be in place for Saturday’s game, said UT Senior Associate Vice Chancellor Jeff Maples.

“We’re asking the fans to arrive early and not to bring prohibited items inside Neyland Stadium,” he said.

Prohibited items include:

– alcoholic beverages, cans, bottles or coolers;
– radios without headphones;
– open umbrellas;
– video cameras;
– stadium seats with arms;
– large bags or parcels;
– weapons of any kind.

Fans are allowed to bring the following items inside the stadium:

– cushions and stadium seats without arms;
– binoculars, small cameras, pagers, and cell phones;
– diaper bags that accompany infants.

Fulmer Way from Middle Drive to Tee Martin Drive, Peyton Manning Pass, Middle and Lower drives and Estabrook Drive will be closed 30 minutes before kickoff.
Jefferson Pilot will televise the game Saturday. The traditional Vol Walk from Gibbs Hall to the stadium starts at 10:15 a.m., and the Pride of the Southland marching band will leave the Music Building at 10:50 a.m.
