Milligan, who will serve as associate vice chancellor for communications and marketing, will lead communications and marketing programs for the Knoxville campus and will work closely with UT System leadership, including the vice president for public and governmental relations, on communications and marketing initiatives.

“Tom Milligan is a skilled, energetic communications professional whose experience at another land-grant university equips him well for leading the Knoxville campus’ interactions with the broader community,” Crabtree said.

“We are delighted he has accepted our offer to come to Knoxville.”

Milligan is currently assistant vice president for university relations at Colorado State University. During his management tenure, the Colorado State unit has won some of the top awards in the communications and marketing industry.

He has responsibility there for marketing and advertising initiatives and brand management, oversight and management of the university’s Web presence and printing and publications units, serves as spokesman for the university, and manages all aspects of media and community relations.

Milligan has been at Colorado State since 1992.

A journalism graduate of Southwest Texas State University, he will assume his position at UT in mid-February 2005.
