The University of Tennessee will host a Law School Admissions Workshop and Recruitment Fair Oct. 5.

Representatives of several southeastern law schools will be available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. to discuss their academic programs with prospective students.

Schools planning to send representatives or materials include Alabama, Charleston, Cumberland, Emory, Georgia, Kentucky, Memphis, Mercer, Mississippi College, Richmond, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Washington and Lee.

The workshop, which begins at 1:30 p.m., will be held in room 132 of the College of Law building, and will cover such topics as the law school admission process, preparing for law school as an undergraduate, the LSAT, and financing a legal education.

In addition, admissions representatives are invited to stay for a student question and answer session led by Aaron Todd, assistant director of UT’s arts & sciences advising services. He also serves as pre-law advisor.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for those persons who are looking to apply or who are simply seeking more information about a future career in law,” said Dr. Karen Britton, director of admissions, financial aid and career services for UT’s College of Law.

The workshop is free and requires no pre-registration. Admissions officials will be in the student commons area.
