The University of Tennessee National Alumni Association approved new officers at its June 25 board meeting in Knoxville.
Spruell Driver Jr. will lead UTNAA as president in 2004-2005, having served this year as president-elect. Also taking office on July 1 will be President-Elect A. Dean Skadberg, Vice-President John “Jack” T. Billings Jr. and Treasurer Deborah “Debbie” L. Diddle. James “Jim” H. Duke, 2003-2004 UTNAA president, will serve as national chair of annual giving.
They will lead more than 300,000 members of UTNAA.
Driver is a 1987 industrial engineering graduate of UT Knoxville. He is a graduate of Duke University School of Law and is an attorney with Miller and Martin in Nashville. He has served as treasurer and president-elect of UTNAA and as a member of the UTNAA board of governors. Driver and his wife, Elaine (Knoxville ’85), live in Nashville with their daughter.
President-elect Alan Skadberg is a 1961 alumnus of the College of Business Administration. He is a retired director of industry affairs for Procter and Gamble. He is a UT Knoxville Chancellor’s Associate and a member of the UTNAA board of governors and executive committee. He and his wife, Ann (Knoxville ’62), have three children and live in Knoxville.
Vice President Jack Billings, a 1977 graduate of UT-Knoxville, is vice president of land development for X-L Service, Inc., in Collierville, Tenn. He has served as president of the Memphis-Shelby County chapter of UTNAA and as a member of the UTNAA board of governors and executive committee. He and his wife, Denise (Knoxville ’77), have two children and live in Germantown.
Treasurer Debbie Diddle is a 1972 graduate of UT Knoxville. She is a past chair of the UTNAA Women’s Council, a member of the UT Development Council, and was a member of the UT Presidential Search Advisory Council. Diddle is a certified public accountant. She and her husband, John (Knoxville ’71), have three children and live in Knoxville.
Jim Duke, out-going UTNAA president, will serve as the chair of annual giving. He is a Knoxville alumnus and the vice president of sales for Memphis Hardwood Flooring. He has served as president for the Memphis-Shelby County UTNAA chapter as well as treasurer, vice-president, president-elect and president of UTNAA. He and his wife, Margaret, have two children and live in Memphis.
“The National Alumni Association is one of the University of Tennessee’s greatest assets,” Interim President Joe Johnson said. “These new officers, led by Spruell Driver, continue a long tradition of service by a loyal and dedicated group of volunteers.”
