KNOXVILLE – The University of Tennessee division of biology and University Studies is collaborating with UT Career Services to provide a virtual conference for students who are interested in careers in ecological, environmental or natural resources.

The conference will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the Shiloh Room of the University Center.

Panelists from the Peace Corps, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Nature Conservancy, Student Conservation Association, Exponent Environmental Consultants and the Maryland Department of Environment will take part.

Panelists will speak on career opportunities, give inside tips and discuss the present and future job outlook.

“Students will learn of the diversity of opportunities to develop their interest in the environment into a rewarding career,” said Dr. Neil Greenberg, ecology and evolutionary biology professor, chair of University Studies and co-coordinator of the Environmental Semester.

The event is in preparation for Environmental Semester to be held Spring 2005. It is a proposal for a campus-wide effort to enhance awareness of the environment as it influences and is influenced by every discipline.

Interested students and faculty should visit http://environmentalsemester.utk.edu for more information on the career panel and other UT initiatives about the environment.
