KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee All Campus Events Committee (ACE) will host the annual All-Sing Competition at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, and at 4:30 and 8 p.m. Sat., Jan. 31, in the Alumni Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are $8.

All-Sing has been a UT tradition since 1932. This year 14 student organizations will participate to the theme “I Like the Way You All-Sing.” Groups will perform songs from the Broadway musical “Rent”, films such as “Footloose” and “The Wizard of Oz,” TV theme songs, the rock group the Eagles, and others.

ACE will award first, second, and third place trophies in the large singles, large mixed, small singles and small mixed divisions. They also will award best male and female soloist as well as points in the ACE Cup competition, where organizations compete in different events throughout the year.

“Expect to be impressed by the creativity, talent and hard work that each of the student organizations have put forth for All-Sing 2004,” said Neely Butler, ACE director.

“It never ceases to amaze me–the countless hours, practices and organizing that the students spend making their performances spectacular.”

This year’s All-Sing also will include an alumni performance. Alumni who performed in All-Sing while at UT will return to perform some Tennessee favorites at the conclusion of All-Sing on Jan. 31.

Alumni who are interested in participating should contact Neely Butler via e-mail at nbutler@utk.edu or by phone at 865-595-6254.
