KNOXVILLE – Several events celebrating University of Tennessee Homecoming are scheduled this week, leading up to the UT Homecoming football game against top-ranked Miami.

Campus groups organizing the events include the UT National Alumni Association, Black Cultural Programming Committee, and All Campus Events committee.

Scheduled programs and events include:

— Miss Homecoming online voting will continue through 10 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6. The winner will be announced Saturday at halftime of the UT-Miami football game.

— Annual Homecoming parade will starts at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at UT’s Circle Park, followed by the Smokey’s Howl Pep Rally at 4:30 p.m. at Stokely Athletics Center.

— First Tennessee Bank will present the UT Salute To Veterans, 6-10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at the Knoxville Auditorium-Coliseum, 500 Howard Baker Jr. Avenue. The Salute is open to all Veterans and their guests. A reception at 6 p.m. and entertainment at 7 p.m. includes the UT Singers, Al Curtis big band, Miss Tennessee Valli Kugler, humorist David Lee Hunter, and Keynote Speaker Lt. General Dennis Cavin. Cost is $25 per person. Reservations can be made until November 6 by calling the UTNAA at 865-974-3011.

Veterans will be honored in Friday-s Homecoming parade and at halftime of the football game.

— Third Annual Homecoming Comedy Show will feature Arnez J, Don D.C. Curry and John Witherspoon at 8 p.m., Friday Nov. 8, Civic Center Auditorium. For tickets, contact the University Center Central Ticket Office, Tickets Unlimited or call 865-656-4444.

— Tailgate at the New Black Cultural Center, 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9. The UT Black Cultural Center is located at 1800 Melrose Ave.

— Annual Party In The Park, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at UT’s Circle Park, includes food and drinks from Buddy-s Bar-B-Q, Purity, and Coca-Cola; a showcase of UT academic departments; a “Rocky Top Sing-Off- contest; face-painting and balloon art for the children; door prizes; the UT Band, Cheerleaders and Smokey. Cost is $15.

— Homecoming football game, UT vs. Miami, kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.
