SPRING HILL — The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture and the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation announced today that Dan Wheeler will be the director of their new, jointly funded Center for Profitable Agriculture.

Wheeler is stepping down from his position as commissioner of the state’s Department of Agriculture on August 15, and he will immediately assume his new duties. Wheeler was appointed commissioner by Governor Don Sundquist and has served in that role since 1995.

The new Center for Profitable Agriculture will be housed on the grounds of the UT Middle Tennessee Experiment Station in Spring Hill.
