Knoxville — The University of Tennessee School of Business has won an international competition among 19 schools to develop an Internet marketing strategy for the Olympics.

UT coach Eddie Armbrister, an instructor in Business Administration, said his team’s GOLD Project — short for Global Olympic Liaison Division — will probably be used in the next Olympic Games.

“As it is now, each national Olympic committee and each international sports federation negotiates contracts for sponsorships and broadcasting rights individually,” said Armbrister.

“My team’s proposal is to centralize that function through GOLD to negotiate contracts and streamline communication,” said Armbrister.

UT students won the contest over teams from Vanderbilt and Georgetown in the United States, and universities in Italy and Spain.
