Knoxville– Three University of Tennessee agricultural faculty members were recently recognized for contributions to the field.
Dr. Donald Howard, plant and soil sciences professor at the West Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station in Jackson, Tenn., received the 1999 Werner L. Nelson Award presented by the Fluid Fertilizer Foundation. The award is given for outstanding contributions in the development of soil fertility and plant nutrition management to increase crop yields for the benefit of North American farmers and consumers.
Dr. John Mount, associate professor of food science and technology, has been invited to serve a three-year term as a Center for Undergraduate Excellence Fellow at UT. Mount will serve as a resource faculty member for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and the University of Tennessee in the continuing effort to improve undergraduate instruction.
Dr. Tom Mueller, associate professor of weed science, was presented the Outstanding Young Weed Scientist Award by the Weed Science Society of America. Mueller was recognized for his outstanding research with the UT Agricultural Experiment Station regarding herbicide fate in the environment, and for his teaching in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
