MARTIN, Tenn. – The Ed and Carolyn Boling University Center on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus will celebrate its grand opening with a week-long schedule of activities for UT Martin students and members of the community.

The grand-opening celebration marks the end of a $9.4 million renovation project that started Jan. 14, 1999. The project increased the size of the university center by more than 25,000 square feet. Among the new amenities for the building is a 500-seat auditorium, a 6,000 square foot wellness center; and a 2,700 square-foot multifunctional meeting room.

The events get under way Sunday, Jan. 30 with a Super Bowl party and a movie marathon and end Sunday, Feb. 6 with brunch being served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the cafeteria and open houses in the center’s respective offices from noon to 3 p.m.

The following is a listing of the week-long activities:

Sunday, Jan. 30

2 p.m. – Love on the Screen Movie Marathon in the Boling University Center Auditorium (Movies to be shown include: -Up Close and Personal,- “Sleepless in Seattle,” “Pretty Woman,” and “Runaway Bride”).

3 p.m. – Super Bowl Party in the Boling University Center Gameroom

Monday, Jan. 31

– Greek Discount Day in the University Center Book Store (20 percent off all Greek merchandise in stock).

– Gateway Computer and D & H Software Representatives, Boling University Center Computer Store (first floor)

11:30 a.m. – Tom “Dr. Cue” Rossman Billiard Exhibition, Boling University Gameroom

7 p.m. – Contemporary Music Concert: Living Proof (William and Jill Donnell) will
perform in concert in the Boling University Center Auditorium. The free concert is cosponsored by the Interfaith Center

Tuesday, Feb. 1

– Student Discount Day in the University Book Store (20 percent off soft goods and novelty items only).

– Computer Store will give away a Hewlett Packard Printer

6:30 p.m. – Valentine’s Day Gala Dinner and Dance, Duncan Ballroom, Boling University Center. This semiformal attire event, sponsored by the Martin Rotary Club and the C.E. Weldon Public Library, will serve as a fund-raiser for the local library. Tickets are $25 each and group tables are available.

Sunday, Feb. 6

– Special Door Prize Giveaway Day in the University Center Bookstore

11 a.m. – Sunday Brunch will be served in the cafeteria by Sodexho Marriott until 2 p.m. Harpist Jordan Donley will perform during the brunch. This event is open to the community.

Noon – Building and office tours get under way.

In addition to the listed activities, Sodexho Marriott, the University Bookstore and the Computer Store have planned giveaways and other discounts for customers.
