KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Gov. Don Sundquist and state and legislative leaders will participate in a forum on higher education financing at the University of Tennessee Sept. 10.

The two-hour program will begin at 10 a.m. in the University Center and is open to the public. The Board of Visitors of UT-Knoxville’s College of Arts and Sciences and Tusculum College’s Institute for Public Leadership and Policy are co-sponsors.

Joining the Governor in a panel discussion will be Sen. Bob Rochelle and Rep. Matt Kisber, co-chairs of the Legislative Business Tax Committee; Sen. Andy Womack, chairman of the Senate Education Committee; John Morgan, state comptroller; and John Ferguson, commissioner of finance and administration.

Dr. Bill Fox, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at UT-Knoxville, also will be on the panel, which will be moderated by Dr. Warren Neel, dean of business administration. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions following brief statements from panelists.

Area business and community leaders have been invited to the meeting, UT-Knoxville Chancellor Bill Snyder said.

“The forum is intended to provide an opportunity for an exchange of views between state policy makers and the academic and business communities about the place of higher education in the lives of Tennesseans,” Snyder said.
