Rebekah Ann Capps, a senior at Nashville’s Christ Presbyterian Academy, has been named the Peyton Manning Scholar at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
Capps, who will enter UT this fall, is senior class president and was voted “Best All-Around.” She is the daughter of Ken and Terri Capps of Nashville.
The four-year academic scholarship, named for the former UT quarterback who is now with the Indianapolis Colts, pays for tuition and room and board. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership and community service.
“Rebekah is an outstanding student and is extremely involved in student life at her school, in her community and in her church,” Dr. Thomas Broadhead, director of honors programs at UT-Knoxville, said.
“In Rebekah we have a someone who has been involved in many activities and at a high level of responsibility and leadership. She is the type of student all universities seek to recruit.”
She is captain of her high school basketball team and co-captain of the soccer team. She is president of her school’s chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Capps said she has not decided on a major at UT-Knoxville.
