UT-Knoxville is one of six research institutions developing the second generation Internet. On Monday, Feb. 8, the computer science department will put on-line a new IBM computer that can store the massive amounts of data that will flow on Internet2. Last fall UT-Knoxville received a $1.2 million IBM equipment grant to support the development.
A briefing on UTK’s involvement in Internet2 is set for 3:30 p.m., Feb. 8, in the Executive Dining Room of the University Center. Free parking is available in the Center garage if you show media credentials and tell the attendant to charge the parking to the News Center.
