KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Dr. Carolyn Richardson Hodges, professor at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, is the new president of the Southern Comparative Literature Association.

Hodges, professor of German in the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literature, assumed the presidency at the organization’s annual meeting in Savannah, Ga. She also serves on the editorial board of The Comparatist, SCLA’s scholarly journal.

She earned the bachelor’s degree from Beaver College in Pennsylvania and master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Chicago. She graduated from Florence Township Memorial High School in Florence, N.J.

Hodges is married to John O. Hodges, UT-Knoxville associate professor of religious studies. They have a son, Daniel, who is a senior at West High School here.
