KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Fifteen students have been identified as top graduates of their respective colleges for commencement exercises Aug. 14 at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Top graduates have the highest grade point averages (GPA in their colleges. The minimum GPA to be a top grad is a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

By college, the top graduates and their majors are:

Arts and Sciences, humanities — Charlotte A. Cole, Strawberry Plains, interdisciplinary studies. She is the daughter of Mary Bryan, Denison, Texas.

Arts and Sciences, natural sciences — Faith A. McCullough, Knoxville, computer science.

Arts and Sciences, social science — Lori Anne Fox, psychology; Julia Marie Miller, psychology; and Damian R. Pitt, sociology.

Fox is the daughter of Donald and Geraldine Fox, Kodak.

Miller is the daughter of John and Karen Miller, Brentwood.

Pitt is the son of Mark Pitt and Madeline Rogero, Knoxville.

Business Administration — Dane F. McClellon, Alcoa, logistics and transportation; and Cherie Jill Williams, Knoxville, accounting.

McClellon is the son of Rick and Barb McClellon, Maryville.

Williams is the daughter of Donnie and Linda Williams, Sevierville.

Communications — Steven E. Sams, journalism. He is the son of Norman and Sandra Sams, Murfreesboro.

Education — Alenna Brynae Laxton, exercise science. She is the daughter of Bryan and Patricia Laxton, Oneida.

Engineering — Christopher Reagan Kinser, materials science and engineering; and Roy M. Zeighami, majoring in mechanical engineering.

Kinser is the son of Russell and Mary Kinser, Elizabethton.

Zeighami is the son of Elaine Zeighami, Oak Ridge.

Human Ecology — Stephanie Ann Barnhardt, Sweetwater, and Thomas H. Meador, Lyles, industrial education.

Barnhardt is the daughter of Marsha Kent, Knoxville.

Meador is the son of Melvin and Minnie Lou Meador, Centerville.

Social Work — Jennifer Diane Carey, daughter of Bob and Mary Carey, Knoxville.

Some colleges had no students scheduled for summer commencement exercises, said Al Crews, registrar at UT-Knoxville.
