KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Roger S. Kintzel, publisher of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution since 1995, will deliver the University of Tennessee-Knoxville’s summer commencement address Aug.14.
The ceremony is set for 9 a.m. in Thompson-Boling arena.
Kintzel has been with Cox Enterprises, which operates the Atlanta newspapers, since 1979. He has served as publisher of four of the company’s newspaper operations.
In 1983 Kintzel was named publisher of the Springfield (Ohio) News-Sun, and in early 1985 was promoted to president of Cox Arizona Publications and publisher of the Mesa Tribune. He moved to Austin, Texas, in 1986 as publisher of the Austin American-Statesman.
Kintzel earned the bachelor’s degree from Wright State University in Ohio and the master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. His wife, Lee, is an attorney and a director of the Fred M. Roddy Foundation, UT-Knoxville’s largest scholarship program.
