KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Dr. D.M. “Pete” Gossett of the University of Tennessee is “Progressive Farmer” magazine’s 1998 “Man of the Year.”

 Gossett, vice president of the UT Institute of Agriculture, was recognized for service to the state’s agricultural community and for an administrative style that encourages “harmony among farmers, researchers, and agricultural extension workers across the state.”

 The magazine also credited Gossett’s leadership with helping boost to record levels student enrollment in the College of Agriculture and supporting research in no-till crop production and soil and water conservation.
