TULLAHOMA, Tenn. — Michele R. Wise, a graduate of the University of Tennessee Space Institute, returns to campus Wednesday as guest speaker for “Black History Month.”
The program, which is free and open to the public, begins at 2 p.m. in the UTSI Auditorium.
UTSI Vice President Dwayne McCay said the “Black History Month” program is a project of the campus chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.
Wise, a product engineer for Procter & Gamble in Little Rock, Ark., earned the master’s degree in engineering management at UTSI in 1992. She was also the first fellow of the National Consortium for Graduate Studies for Minorities in Engineering and Science to attend UTSI.
She was founder and editor of UTSI’s first yearbook, “Synergy,” and she started UTSI’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.
Wise was crowned “Miss Black Coffee County” for 1990-91 and she was a finalist in the “Miss Black Tennessee Pageant.”
