KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Fall semester has ended at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with 1,443 degree candidates.
UT officials said approximately 1,000 students planned to participate in commencement exercises Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. in the Thompson-Boling Assembly Center and Arena.
Sen. Bill Frist, the first physician elected to the U.S. Congress in almost 70 years, will be commencement speaker.
A heart and lung transplant surgeon at Vanderbilt University Medical Center prior to his election, Frist has been a leader in health care, science and technology issues.
