KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Matthew Maston Jones of Arab, Ala., is among the top graduates scheduled to participate in commencement exercises Dec. 20 at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
Jones, the son of Michael and Cynthia Jones of Arab, is the top natural sciences graduate in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Top graduate honors go to the students with the highest grade point averages (GPA) in their respective colleges. A minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 point scale is required.
Jones’ other honors and activities at UT-Knoxville include Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society and Sigma Gamma Epsilon, the geology honor society.
He plans to enroll at the University of Rhode Island to continue his education in the study of paleontology.
