KNOXVILLE, Tenn.– The Graduate School at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville is offering a program to help women return to college.

Dr. C.W. Minkel, dean of the Graduate School, said the Lori Mayer Reentry Women’s Graduate Fellowship provides personal support and $1,000 toward graduate tuition and fees to returning women students.

The program was established in 1994 in memory of Lori Mayer, a 1978 UT-Knoxville accounting graduate who worked as a controller for Whittle Communications in Knoxville. Mayer died Oct. 10, 1993.

The fellowship is open to women with undergraduate degrees who are U.S. citizens, at least 27 years old and out of school for at least five years.

Deadlines for applications are Oct. 15 for spring semester, March 15 for summer and June 15 for fall.

To apply, contact Dr. Jan Allen, assistant dean, at 423-974-2475.
