Dr. Joseph E. Johnson, president of the University of Tennessee, will speak at the Sept. 30 meeting of the Wayne County chapter of the UT National Alumni Association.
A 6:30 p.m. reception will be followed by dinner at 7 p.m. at the Peacock’s Restaurant, On the Square, Waynesboro. The cost is $10.75 per person.

Johnson was named president of the university in June 1991. He has been a UT administrator since 1963.
A native of Vernon, Ala., he received the bachelor’s degree degree with honors from Birmingham-Southern College and the doctorate in higher education from UT-Knoxville.
UT National Alumni Association meetings are open to all friends and alumni of the university. The UTNAA has 110 chapters more than 225,000 members worldwide.
