KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A benefit for minority scholarships in the University of Tennessee-Knoxville College of Nursing is scheduled May 3.

Inez Tuck, associate professor and director of nursing, said the black-tie event will benefit the Barbara Reid Minority Nursing Fellowship and the African-American Undergraduate Scholarship in Nursing.

The benefit begins at 6 p.m. with a reception in the Summit Ballroom of the Radisson Hotel, followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

Individual tickets are $50 for open seating or $100 reserved. Group or corporate tables are $1,000. Proceeds after expenses will benefit the two scholarship funds.

Following dinner, a short program will honor Dr. Reid, former associate dean of nursing, and include recognition of the college’s work in various inner-city health facilities and with the minority community.

The evening will conclude with music provided by the Rocky Wynder Trio with guest vocalists, Jackie Brown and Evon Easley. Dancing will continue until midnight.
