KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A University of Tennessee-Knoxville associate professor in botany has won a national award for nature photography. Dr. Alan Heilman won first prize in the 1996 Natural World Photographic Competition of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Pittsburgh, for his photograph “Sunflower.” Dr. Edward Schilling, head of UT-Knoxville’s botany department, said Heilman has
