KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A new area has been designated for recreational vehicle and motor home parking for University of Tennessee-Knoxville home football games, UT traffic officials said Thursday.

Fans who arrive in RVs before Friday night must park their vehicles in the UTPC lot on Leinard Lane off Neyland Drive, said Dr. Steve Richards, head of UT’s football traffic committee.

The UTPC space, named for the former “Pay Cash” company which once owned it, is located near UT’s Graphic Arts and Auxiliary Services building, Richards said.

Richards said fans in RVs previously parked their vehicles during the week in UT agricultural campus lots. Those lots must now be used for other parking demands during the week, he said.

On Friday after 4 p.m., RVs must be moved from the UTPC lot to public parking areas on the agriculture campus.

UTPC parking is $6 per day.

Kickoff for Saturday’s UT-Florida game is 3:30 p.m.

To help motorists avoid traffic jams and delays, Richards recommends:

* Arriving early and planning to wait until traffic clears before leaving.

* Leaving campus after the game by heading east rather than west on Neyland Drive.

* Parking at the UT agriculture campus or Knoxville Civic Coliseum parking garage and riding a shuttle to and from the stadium. Agriculture campus parking is $6, coliseum parking is $4, shuttle rides are $2.

Richards said illegally parked cars will be towed and impounded at the city impoundment lot on Jackson Avenue or UT’s impoundment lot at 1115 UT Drive.
