KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Lifestar medical helicopter will be five air-minutes from the site of Olympic canoe and kayak-slalom competition on the Ocoee River July 26-28.

Lifestar is the aeromedical service of the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

Dr. Chris Brooks, the Lifestar director, said a UT helicopter will be based at Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“We hope no Olympic team members are injured or become ill, but…illnesses and accidents do occur,” Brooks said.
