KNOXVILLE, Tenn.– The University of Tennessee-Knoxville has three graduate programs in the top 50 of U.S. News and World Report’s latest survey.

UT is eighth among the nation’s graduate programs in advertising. This is the first time the news magazine has ranked graduate programs in journalism and mass communications. The University of Illinois is in first place in the advertising group and the University of Florida second.

Among business schools, UT-Knoxville is 47th, down from 37th last year.

The College of Law at UT-Knoxville was 47th, up two places from 1995. The next edition of the magazine, due on newsstands Monday, will report the rankings, which are based on faculty resources, research activity, test scores and reputation.
