KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Small businesses can improve their chances of receiving federal money by sending their officials to take University of Tennessee courses.

Seminars on writing winning research proposals and learning about technology transfer are set for 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday at Pellissippi State Community College and Thursday at Nashville State Technical Institute.

The workshops are being conducted by UT’s Center for Industrial Services.

Terrye Whitaker, the program coordinator, said the seminars can help Tennessee businesses collect part of the $900 million the government allocates annually to small businesses in this area.

Seminar co-sponsors are Oak Ridge Centers for Manufacturing Technology, Small Business Development Center at Pellissippi State, Tennessee Center for Research and Development and Tennessee Resource Valley.
