KNOXVILLE, Tenn.– Tennessee Vol football fans can get a free taste of Tennessee food products and hear food safety tips before the Sept. 2 Tennessee-East Carolina game.

The Big Orange Tailgate Party will be held 4-6 p.m., at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville’s Circle Park, UT officials said Friday.

Free food samples and food safety information will be offered by state food and commodity groups representing poultry, beef, pork, lamb, fish, fruits and vegetables and

dairy products. Knoxville Coca-Cola Bottling Co. will provide free drinks.

State agriculture commissioner Dan Wheeler, the guest speaker, will talk about promoting state agricultural products.

Music and entertainment will be provided by Lost Creek, a Jefferson County bluegrass band, and the UT cheerleaders and pep band.

The Tennessee-East Carolina football game is set for 7 p.m. Should kickoff time be changed, the party will be held three hours before the new kickoff time.

The event is sponsored by the UT Institute of Agriculture and the University Relations office.
