KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Canadian educator will be among four speakers at Friday’s closing ceremony of the fifth annual Academy for Teachers of Science and Mathematics at the University of Tennessee.

The speakers are:

* Dr. G. C. Keilty, deputy education minister, Province of New Brunswick, Canada.

* Dr. Marianne Woodside, UT chancellor’s assistant.

* Bruce Opie, Tennessee education department’s director of curriculum and instruction.

* Dr. Michael Hopp, Lockheed Martin Corp. organization development director.

For the past four weeks, 79 teachers from four Southeast states and eastern Canada have been learning skills that will help them in their classrooms.

The academy is sponsored by UT, the U.S. Department of Energy, Lockheed Martin, Lockheed Canada Ltd., and the Ministry of Education, New Brunswick, Canada.

The ceremony begins at noon in the student center.
