KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Two University of Tennessee-Knoxville geographers have won an award for excellence.
Dr. Bruce Ralston, a geography professor, and Dr. Cheng Liu, an adjunct assistant geography professor, won the Citation Award for Geographical Excellence in Applied Geography at a meeting of the Association of American Geographers.
The team won for their Bangladesh Transportation Modeling System, a microcomputer-based decision support system for evaluating proposed transportation policies and investments. It combines mathematical models of transportation systems with computer mapping and database management software.
