If you are a UT student, faculty, or staff member and you use an iPhone (version 6s or higher) or Apple Watch, you now have the option to download the mobile VolCard, a digital version of your campus ID.
How to Download Mobile VolCard
To download your mobile VolCard, go through the GET Mobile app from the App Store. When you open the app, select “University of Tennessee Knoxville” and enter your NetID and password. The app will prompt you through a series of steps to add your VolCard to your Apple Wallet. Once completed, open Apple Wallet to find your orange mobile VolCard among your other cards and passes.
School credentials from the mobile VolCard on iPhone and Apple Watch are protected by two-factor authentication. Eventually, the mobile VolCard will be accessible through the UT app.
Currently, the mobile VolCard is available only through Apple products.
Using Mobile VolCard
To use your mobile VolCard, simply hold your iPhone or Apple Watch near a reader anywhere physical ID cards are accepted. The VolCard will work automatically without requiring Touch ID. You can adjust this feature in Wallet and Apple Pay settings.
The mobile VolCard can be used at any location where you can swipe your card, including residence halls and dining facilities, as well as 30 off-campus merchants. Faculty and staff access to some administrative buildings is not yet available with the mobile ID but will be later in the fall.
