Are you ready for life on Rocky Top?

Campus will be bustling next week with students arriving for the fall semester. Many students will be moving into their residence halls throughout the week for activities such as Ignite and sorority and fraternity recruitment. Move-in day for many first-year students is Saturday, August 18.

For detailed information about move-in, download the Volunteer Life app. The app includes a schedule of move-in dates and times, “to-do” and “what to bring” lists, and loft and carpet purchase information.

As you finish packing, check out this list of things to bring and items to leave at home.

The university is preparing for a lot of traffic on move-in day. Make sure you are aware of the best traffic routes to take as well as construction and road closures to minimize delays. Once you unload your vehicles, you will be directed to move your vehicle to the closest non-commuter parking area.

Once you arrive on campus, go to the main lobby of your assigned residence hall, where staff will check you in and direct you to your assigned room.

The University Housing office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Student Services Building Room 405.

University Housing will hold all rooms until 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 22. If you cannot check in by then, contact the office at 865-974-2571 for an extension.

Hundreds of volunteers from the campus and community will be on hand Saturday to help unload cars. University staff will be available to answer questions.
